Short summary Fought in the reign of Louis XIV, along side with Anglo-Dutch wars, which lasted much longer. The year 1672 in Dutch is often referred to as Het Rampjaar, meaning the year of disaster.) (1672¨C78) was a war fought by France, Sweden, the Prince-Bishopric of M¨¹nster, the Archbishopric of Cologne and England against the Dutch Republic, which were later joined by the Austrian Habsburg lands, Brandenburg and Spain to form a quadruple alliance. This war was later expanded to the Nine Years war, involving many more parties and territories.
