Caesar Augustus, -63 - 14, Roman Empire,

Born into the Plebeian Octavii, Augustus was adopted as the son of Julius Caesar after Caesar was assassination. (During the Roman republic period, the senate would select heir to executives - however, most executives adopt the heir as their son anyways). He become the first emperor of the Roman Empire, following the democratic Roman Republic. Together with Mark Antony and Marcus Lepidus, they restored Rome and expanded into Egypt. Mark Antony and Cleopatra were killed by Augustus later. The month of "August" was named after him by Roman senators. "Augustus", meaning emperor status, was given to him by the Roman senator.
