Karl Marx, 1818 - 1883, Prussia, Germany

A German philosopher who wrote the Communist Manifesto and Capital, he became an intellectual leader in the communism movement. He was born in a wealthy middle class family in Trier, but died poor. He lived in the Era of pre-war Germany, the panic of 1837, and the French July Monarch.
