Luigi Galvani, 1737 - 1798, Italy, Italy

He discovered that frog legs contract when hit with electricity, thereby starting the field of bioelectricity. His work inspired Volta and others to follow. He was a faculty of University of Bolonga, the first university in the world. He is a believer of vitalism. As a "Benedectine member" of the Academy of Sciences, Galvani had certain commitments. His main one was to present at least one research paper every year at the Academy.
