Marquis Condorcet, 1743 - 1794, France, France


A thinker and philosopher during the age of French revolution. He is famous for writing historical notes (Sketch for a Historical Picture of the Progress of the Human Spirit), for Condorcet paradox and Condorcet method. He is the first to apply mathematics to social studies, and had put forward important ideas related to Jury voting and democracy vote systems. His life figures importantly to the age of enlightenment, which followed the age of discovery and Reformation, and preceded the age of industry. A liberal and progressive minded person, he advocated for women right and was against capital punishment. He was against killing the French King and therefore became a target of his fellow revolutionaries during the French Revolution.
