The Arab kingdoms diminished after the Fatimid Caliphate. Saladin as a Kurdish Muslim, who became the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria, and founded the Ayyubid dynasty. He defeated the Crusaders who took Jerusalam 88 years ago and retook the holy land in the Battle of Hatitn.
